Take A Hike!

It will be almost 6 years since visiting NYC. This Sunday I will be boarding a plane at 10:30 towards Boston. My destination is Pen Station, so I decided I was hopping on the greyhound. For a 3 1/2 hour drive, I plan to have music in my ears, find a pen in my hand, thinking about life. This Sunday I once again plunge into the unknown seeking adventure, expanding my spiritual nature of being free. Two full days in my hometown Queens, then off to Main for the adrenaline rush of white water rafting. The adventure doesn’t end but instead it moves forward into nature…centering…grounding…immersed in my life’s opposite. CAMPING!!!

Submersed into the everyday culture, it’s stimulus is all based around fear. Since our early programming, my thoughts tend to stick in the past like most people. Leaving all the chaos behind, it’s like I’m recharging my batteries with peace at mind. I view this as a retreat to gather my thoughts with the focus on the present. The future always comes sooner then we think which is why NOW is the best time.  Looking forward into the future, I know and feel it’s  exciting energy… What will NYC Air smell like? How much is a slice of pizza? How awake are the people I interact with? Do my old hangout spots look and feel the same? Fast food, fast people, fast cars…I’ll be in the fast lane.  When it ends I will be glad, then I can move on to experience freedom and the growth of my roots.

I can already see the conclusion as I visit the future. A great day of sightseeing with friends in Boston just before I head home the next morning. I’ve heard its a wonderful place with historic neighborhoods, a diverse culture, and vitality. A shower taken, followed by a nice dinner then off to a clean fresh bed to catch some zzz’s. Boarding my plane I notice all that I leave behind. I smile… In the present I remind myself to keeping moving forward. Feeling grateful for all I have NOW, I am aware of my fulfilling future ahead. Cheers and go take a hike!

  • It’s going to be a great experience..and you will have oodles of fun with old friends..and exploring new adventures coming your way. I can’t wait to see you John :)

  • John, that’s great that you’re taking a trip back to NYC! And going camping. That’ll be quite the contrast! I did a short camping trip last weekend (in Washington and Oregon) and I’m going on another one in a few days to go kayaking with my dad. They’re always a great way to get out of ruts and open our minds to new possibilities…

  • Dear John,

Wishing you a wonderful, soulful, safe and happy trip
filled with love and good vibes.

    All the best,
    Mary
